The house, 200 years old, was the heart of activity in the village of Saint Michel de Montaigne. Part of it was the village café, a friendly place with a small adjoining grocery store for quick shopping. Next to it stood the bakery of which a large part of the bread oven still survives and which had been in operation for more than a century as evidenced by a document from 1895.
This house welcomed the resistance, the demarcation line passing in the western part of the department delimited by the Lidoire river which traces the demarcation line, to the west of the village. The village was therefore in the Free Zone
The two adjoining houses were brought together in 2001 to build four small gîtes called Relais de la Renaissance.
Purchased in October 2016, we kept the name in order to continue the story: thus the guest house "le Relais de la Renaissance" was born.
Our favorite phrase is: “follow your dreams, they know the way”. Charmed by this place, our dream is now daily.
Our four spacious guest rooms retain the charm of this land and wish to keep all the spirit of it in these ancient walls. We found all the furniture in the surrounding area in order to keep the very essence of this place intact.
On the edge of the village, the vines remind us how the love of working the land brightens up beautiful celebrations, meetings, reunions.
Laurence and Philippe transformed the garden so that each room could have its own corner.
The large breakfast terrace is dedicated to meeting guests, and it is with shared pleasure that our guests feel at home.
Although we live in Lorraine, over time we have become enamored of this territory and it will be a real pleasure to guide you through this beautiful region.
